It’s amazing what a homemade salad dressing can do to make a salad taste like restaurant quality. (And bonus, I had all of these ingredients in my fridge already.)

Ever since I made my Taco Casserole recipe last week, all I can think about is making more Mexican food. 😬

Luckily, this Cilantro Lime Dressing is healthy, and goes so well on top of almost any kind of salad! (Particularly Southwest Salad, which I’ll be posting later this week!)

So there are only 8 ingredients in this thing, and almost all of them have substitution options, so let’s get into it!

How to Make Cilantro Lime Dressing

  • A food processor may be used to combine the ingredients for this dressing. For a smoother consistency, I recommend a Nutri Ninja or Nutribullet.
  • I like to use plain whole yogurt when I make this, which can be substituted with plain Greek yogurt, sour cream, or mayo.
  • For a different flavor, you can use a jalapeno (seeds removed unless you like lots of heat), instead of green onions.
  • Instead of honey, you can use half the amount and replace it with sugar.

How Long is Cilantro Lime Dressing Good For

  • This dressing can be kept in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week, but tastes the most fresh if used within 5 days.

  1. Huge hit !!! Made exactly as written.

  2. I like it and made a few changes:

Because I’m using this delightful dressing on shrimp tacos, I didn’t add any pepper or green onions, and added about a 1/4 teaspoon of coriander and a tsp. of Tajín.

Also, I think subbing the olive oil for a milder one (such as grape seed) would compliment this dressing very nicely. Next time. 🙂

  3. This is my go to recipe for broccoli slaw for fish tacos.  Everyone loves it.  This time it was a little on the thin side (maybe the lime yielded more juice)  so I added a half an avocado-so yummy and so easy.

    • Hi Cindy!! I’m so glad that you love this dressing! I find the longer I blend it, the thicker it gets! I love adding more avocado too of course!! Thank you so much for the review!! 🥰

  4. I made this to use as a dressing for a Mexican salad. So delicious!!! I followed the recipe and used 1/4 cup real mayo and 1/4 cup of Greek yogurt. My emulsifier made it so creamy and I love it! Thanks for the recipe.

    • Hey JC! I’m sooo happy that you loved this dressing, it’s PERFECT for a Mexican salad, nicely done- thank you soooo much for taking the time to leave a review, you’re the best! -Stephanie

  5. My husband can’t get enough of this dressing. Number one request in my household when it comes done to salad selections. Thank you! 😉

  6. My family’s favorite Southwest Salad, and the cilantro lime dressing is beyond delicious 😋 I make this salad every time we have a get together or BBQ. Keeps well for a few days, and the dressing flavor intensifies – a win-win!

    • I’m so happy this is your family’s favorite Wendy! This is one of my favorite dressing during the summer, it’s so refreshing. Thanks so much for the great comments!💖

  7. This was delicious! I made it with sour cream as that’s what I had on hand. Will definitely make this one again!

  8. Can this be frozen?

    • Hi Clara, I’m not sure, I’ve never tried freezing salad dressing before but I’m not sure the consistency would be the same when thawed. My guess is that it might not work.
