Honey Mustard Sauce

I’m never giving my husband the job as “taste-tester” again. 😑 I had to make an entire new batch of this Honey Mustard because he basically attacked the bowl. (It didn’t help that he had a warm tortilla filled with cheese that was perfectly for dunking.)

The reason that honey mustard is so delicious is that it’s got so many flavor elements that hit you all at once, but in a perfectly harmonized way. There’s a little bit of sweet, sour, savory, and tang in this recipe. It’s thick and creamy, but not too “mayo” like. The ratio of ingredients is a perfect fit.

How to Make It

See recipe card below this post for ingredient quantities and full instructions.

  • Add all ingredients to a medium bowl. Whisk vigorously until the consistency is completely smooth, it will take a minute or two.
  • You can serve it immediately, however it tastes best if chilled in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes. This allows the flavors to combine and the consistency to thicken.

  1. Best honey mustard I’ve ever made at home. Perfect sweetness with a hint of tang. We’ve used it for chicken strips, pretzel dogs, kielbasa and salad dressing. It’s perfect for everything. Thank you for sharing. I’ve been sharing it with those I love too 💛

    • I’m so happy that you love it Melody!! My daughter is obsessed with honey mustard and I agree with you, this one has the perfect balance of all of the flavors! Thank you soooo much for taking the time to leave a review, you made my day! -Stephanie

  2. My taste said less yellow mustard. Kind of overwhelmed the rest of the flavors. I did enjoy it. So different!  Love all your recipes.

  3. This is delicious. Easy to make. My family loves it.

  4. Just made this and it was delicious. Perfect blend of sweet and tangy flavors. Winner with chicken tenders and also pretzels.

  5. Love this recipe ♥️I use it on my
husbands salad, he puts it on Pizza,
I even made it and used it for potato

    awesome recipe 🤗

  6. I really dont want it as a dip but more of a sauce for the chicken. What can I add more to it to make it into a sauce or it’s ok to use it just as it is.

  7. Wow, this was so full of flavor and POP! Before this year and guessing at this type of recipe, I never would’ve considered including apple cider vinegar (or ANY kind of vinegar) to give this sauce the “pop” I’d always guessed about! Very easy to make and I had all the ingredients. I was in such a rush to eat it with my chicken strips that I missed reading the part that said to refrigerate for 30 minutes to enable the sauce consistency to thicken. STILL GOOD ANYWAY! My husband loved it and I only wished I had more chicken strips cooked!

    • I’m so happy you and the husband loved this Sonia! It’s funny my husband said the same thing about the “Pop”! Definitely from the vinegar. Thanks so much for taking the time to leave a review!😃

  8. Love this dip! We could just set down and eat it without our chicken strips! The thickness is just right and the flavors blend well together. Thank you so much for sharing and creating this recipe.

    • Hey Connie!! I’m so glad to hear that! We felt EXACTLY the same way about it! Hahaha! Thank you so much for taking the time to leave this great review! I really appreciate it. -Stephanie

  9. The best I have had I doubled the recipe and put it in a empty mustard bottle so I have it on hand. Thanks for the recipe..

    • Thank you SO much Delinda!! I am SO happy to hear that. I actually just got done serving this to my four-year-old with some soft pretzels, haha! Her and my husband would eat this every day if they could! 🙂 I really appreciate your review, thank you sooo much! -Stephanie

  10. Definitely a yummy Honey Mustard Sauce. I really like the tanginess this one has! I made it for a dipping sauce for fried chicken dinner and the whole family loved it!
