Ingredients

Ingredient quantities and instructions on how to season french fries are located in the recipe card at the bottom of this post.

  • Onion salt
  • Paprika
  • Dried parsley
  • Garlic powder
  • Dried oregano
  • Dried thyme
  • Dried basil
  • Black pepper
  • Cayenne pepper, optional

Yields 3 Tablespoons seasoning

When to Season French Fries

Whether or not you season the french fries before or after they are cooked depends on the cooking method that you use:

  • Deep Fried french fries are seasoned immediately after they’re finished frying.
  • Baked or Air Fried fries are seasoned before they’re cooked. They’re brushed with olive oil first to allow the seasoning to stick to the fries.

The BEST Way To Season French Fries

The methods below apply to homemade or frozen french fries.

Oven-Baked French Fries

  • Use a pastry brush to lightly coat the french fries with olive oil.
  • Sprinkle french fry seasoning as evenly as you can over the fries and bake at 400°F until warm and golden brown. about 20 minutes.

Deep-Fried Fries

  • Have the combined french fry seasoning ready and use a slotted spoon to remove the fries from the oil once they are golden-brown.
  • Place them on a plate lined with paper towels and sprinkle them immediately with french fry seasoning.

Storage

Store in an airtight container. Dried herbs and spices are best if used between 1-3 years.

I recommend making this seasoning in bulk and storing them in these spices jars.
