FAQ’s
Do you develop all of your own recipes?
- Yes. I am very protective over this task. 😁 I develop every single recipe and test it thoroughly before publishing. This is the core of what The Cozy Cook is all about!
Do you photograph your recipes?
- Yes. While I don’t necessarily view photography as my strong suit, I have a sense of pride in knowing that I photographed every single image on this site. It’s a reflection of all of the work that I’ve put in for over 10 years and I’m very proud of that. 😊
- Camera/Lenses: I use a Canon 5d Mark IV to shoot my recipes, typically with this Canon EF 35mm f/1.4L II USM Lens and this Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L IS USM Macro Lens.
- Lighting: I have a studio off the kitchen where I use artificial lighting. I use this Aputure LS C300d II Daylight LED Monolight, a giant Softbox, a Speed Ring, and a heavy-duty Light Stand.
How did you learn how to cook?
- I am completely self taught. I had no idea how to cook when I graduated college. My passion for cooking began when I was trying to impress my (now) husband when we first started dating. I’ve spend countless hours in the kitchen testing, experimenting, winning, and failing.
- I’ve learned more from my failures than my successes, and I’ve learned not to trust everything that I read or hear. And I’ve learned that sometimes, there’s no right or wrong way to do something. (Like rinsing rice. Some swear by it. I do not.) I do insist you shred/grate your own cheese for soups, sauces, pizzas, and pastas however. 😁

Is this your full-time job?
- Yes. I left my full-time job in 2018 so that I could dedicate myself to this business full-time. (The amount of work that it takes to operate a food blog is much more than meets the eye!) My income primarily comes from the ads that you see on this site, which also allows you to access all of my content for FREE!
How can I browse through your recipes?
- My Recipe Index is organized by category, and is a really simply way to browse through my recipes. Further down on the page you can also search by ingredient!
- My site also has a search feature on the top right corner.
Do you have any cookbooks?
- I have two published cookbooks! The Cozy Cookbook is my debut cookbook that I published in 2022, and Let’s Eat! is my second cookbook that I published in 2024.
Do you have e-book versions of your cookbooks?

What are your personal favorites?
- With over 550 recipes, it’s hard to pick favorites. 🥴 But here are some of my favorites that aren’t already listed above: Tomato Basil Pasta, Chicken Scallopini, Garlic Butter Pasta, Chicken Tortellini Soup, Egg Roll in a Bowl, Zucchini Soup, The Best Steak Rub, Garlic Parmesan Chicken Pasta, Baked Potato Soup, Hot Honey Chicken, Zuppa Toscana Soup…I could really keep going, but I’ll stop here. 😂
Do your recipes have nutritional information?
- Yes, estimated nutritional information is listed underneath the notes section of each recipe card, and they are per serving. The number of servings are listed at the top of the recipe card, in the middle.
Do you accept guest posts or do sponsored work?
- I don’t accept guest posts, it’s important to me that my readers see consistent content when they come to my site.
- I don’t do sponsored posts. I am offered compensation for product recommendations and link placements on a daily basis, however I don’t accept any of these offers. Any product I recommend is a genuine, non-sponsored, unpaid recommendation.
How can I can support you?
- Leave reviews! If you’ve enjoyed any of my recipes, leaving a review on them is extremely helpful to me. It gives the recipe the additional credibility while encouraging others to make it! (It also really makes my day, you have no idea!)
- Spread the word! Share my site with friends and family, this is a huge help!
- Seek human-run businesses, (not AI): AI recipe sites and AI generated recipes are becoming more and more prevalent, which not only poses a threat to real food bloggers, but also provides you with recipes that haven’t been tested by humans. With the cost of food these days, that’s not a risk worth taking. It also keeps humans in business!
