Copycat Texas Roadhouse Butter
This Copycat Texas Roadhouse Butter recipe needs nothing more than a little honey, butter, and 2 additional ingredients! Use this on homemade rolls, pancakes, sweet potatoes, and more!
Be sure to pair this with my Texas Roadhouse Rolls Recipe!
If you’ve been to Texas Roadhouse, you probably won’t be able to tell the difference between their delicious honey & cinnamon butter, and this. If you’ve never been there, you have to try this. The sweet cinnamon/honey/butter combo is to die.
I’ve masted the art of making their rolls too- they’re spot on, and perfect with this sweet butter. And when I say that I’ve “mastered the art”, I mean…I used yeast that wasn’t expired. (Did that once, didn’t work out well.)- But attempt #2 worked out perfectly. And after just a day, they’re almost gone. Those glistening, buttery, soft rolls have a hint of honey flavor and are just way too good.
Ingredients
- High-quality Butter
- Honey
- Cinnamon
- Powdered Sugar
The Key To Creamy Butter
To ensure that your butter is creamy and smooth, use high quality butter.
Ensure that it has been at room temperature for at least an hour. Don’t microwave it to achieve this as it will mess with the consistency.
What Brand of Butter is Best?
Grade AA butter is the highest quality butter you can find, if you are able to get your hands on some.
Cabot Salted Butter is definitely better than store-brand butter and is what I love using for this recipe.
What Does Honey Butter Taste Like?
- Honey butter is a delicious combination of salty and sweet, and there is a touch of honey flavor in there as well. It tastes perfectly with various breads, rolls, muffins, pancakes and even sweet potatoes.
Storage
- Honey butter can be stored in the refrigerator for a week. You can even freeze it but taking chilled honey butter and placing it in between some wax paper and wrapping plastic wrap around it.
What To Serve With Honey Butter

Copycat Texas Roadhouse Butter
Ingredients
- 1 stick salted butter, at room temperature
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1.5 Tablespoons honey
- 3/4 teaspoon cinnamon
Instructions
- For a creamy consistency, ensure that your butter is very soft and has been at room temperature for at least an hour. Don't heat it in the microwave to achieve this as it will mess with the consistency of the butter. Mix all ingredients with an electric mixer until it's creamy and smooth. Refrigerate until ready to use and enjoy!
Notes
- 1/4 teaspoon of salt can be added if using unsalted butter.

What should i do if i cant find cabot brand butter is country crock or blue bonnet okay to use? I am looking forward to using this recipe thank you for sharing!!
Those brands are absolutely fine! Enjoy!
Turned out perfect! Thank you so much! My 9mo prego daughter thanks you as well.
Hey Nina! I am so happy to hear it!! And at nine months pregnant, some honey butter really hits the spot so I’m glad your daughter enjoyed it too!! Have a great day! -Stephanie
Did I read right, it has to be used withina week?
Hi Marti, I personally think it would last much longer but I really try to be on the safe side just in case!
Honey has an indefinite shelf life, it could be 9000 years old , dry n brittle and still safe to eat. Butter may get rancid and have a bad taste, but I’ve never heard of it going bad. As an old farm boy, we made butter and kept it in the fridge months, or froze it for later. Usually it sold before then. I’d check the expiration date on the package and go by that if you want to be on the safe side.
Oh and btw, pretty good copycat. I have goldenrod honey from the back yard, pure ,raw, unfiltered with wings, legs and an occasional head or two. Gives the butter added character😎
I made this without using any powdered sugar and it was amazing
I have been trying to make perfect rolls for years now. THIS is the perfect recipe if followed correctly. I just finished making them and cant stop shovelling them into my mouth they are so light and fluffy! Don’t skimp on the rising!!
Hey Katherine! I’m SO happy to hear that this roll recipe is working for you! Thank you so much for taking the time to leave a comment and rate it! I hope you’re having a wonderful weekend!
My girlfriend specifically requested “sweet steakhouse butter” for the sweet potato…I made this and it was delicious and everyone loved it. I actually halfed the recipe and it was still on point. Luckily there is still some left over because I’m going to try this on some toast like a true fat kid 😉 thanks for the recipe!
Your girlfriend has great taste! I am so happy that this worked out for you, and even better that you had some left over! Thank you for taking the time to comment and rate! You made my day !
The taste of this was good and it did taste pretty close to Texas Roadhouses butter. However, it continuously separated no matter how much I mixed or stirred it and when you spread it on a roll it separates more and it dripped everywhere. My hand turned into a sticky mess and I definitely followed the recipe to a T. I have made their butter before and it didnt separate like this did but I couldnt find that recipe.
Hi Amber! It sounds like the butter was warm, and this can cause separation. The butter needs to be at room temperature but not warm, I think that may have been the problem, I’ve never had this issue but I am sorry that you did! 🙁 Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
I’ve tried to make this before…………who knew it had powdered sugar in It? THANKS!
Hi Marcella! Im so happy that you loved it! Totally makes my day! You can put it on so many things! Have a great Sunday!
Awesome recipe. I added a 1/4 tsp cayenne to mine, making it that little spicy to counter the sweetness
Hey Chris! I’m so glad that you liked it, and wow- a little cayenne to the mix! I love it! Never would have thought of that, yum!
I made this today and I tasted it however it doesn’t exactly taste like the butter from Texas Roadhouse. The sugar is grainy in my version and I don’t know how to fix that. Is there any way I can fix this?
Hi Katy! Was your butter definitely at room temperature? If not, that can cause the sugar to be grainy. It should be left out at room temperature for at least an hour. Mixing it with a hand mixer, or very vigorously will also help! This article has a ton of info to the science of creaming butter and sugar!
