Roasted Green Beans
Oven Roasted Green Beans make a great side dish recipe that’s easy to make with fresh or frozen green beans! Customize them by adding toppings such as almonds, garlic, bacon, lemon juice, Parmesan cheese, and more!

Roasted Green Beans
If you’re looking for an effortless side dish recipe that goes with almost anything, roasted green beans is definitely the way to go.
I love the flavor and crunch that the sliced almonds add, but you can keep theses basic, OR add any combination of extras that you want. Everything you need to know is right below.
How to Make It

- Prepare the green beans by trimming off the steam on each end. This can be done more quickly by lining them up and cutting several at once.
- Drizzle lightly with olive oil and sprinkle with salt and pepper. Spread evenly on a baking sheet.
- Bake at 425° for 15 minutes. Remove and sprinkle with sliced almonds. Toss to coat and redistribute around the sheet. Bake for 3-5 more minutes.
Can you Roast Frozen Green Beans?
YES. Frozen green beans can be roasted:
- Let the frozen green beans come to room temperature and use a paper towel to absorb any liquid or condensation from them, otherwise they’ll steam in the oven instead of roast.
- Roast at 450 degrees (a slightly higher temperature for frozen than for fresh.)
Pro Tips
- I prefer to use a dark baking sheet as it gives the green beans a bit of a darker roast, but a lighter sheet may also be used.
- A squeeze of lemon juice after roasting adds a hint of tangy, fresh flavor.
- Parmesan cheese, crumbled bacon, shredded Parmesan, sautéed mushrooms, pine nuts, walnuts, and roughly chopped peanuts all make great ingredient additions.
Storage
- Store in an airtight container and refrigerate for up to 3 days.

Roasted Green Beans
Ingredients
Roasted Green Beans
- 1 pound fresh green beans
- 2 Tablespoons olive oil
- Salt and Pepper, to taste
- 1/4 cup sliced almonds, optional
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 425°.
- Wash the green beans and pat completely dry. Trim the stem off each side. (You can do this faster by lining them all up and trimming several at a time.)
- Place them on a baking sheet and drizzle with olive oil. Sprinkle lightly with salt and pepper. Toss to coat and spread them out evenly. (Note: A darker baking sheet will give you a little bit more of a darker roast, which is my preference.)
- Bake for 15 minutes.
- Remove from the oven and add the almonds. Toss to coat, then bake for 3-5 more minutes. Remove and serve!
Notes
- The nutritional facts assume that 1 Tablespoon of olive oil remains on the green beans and that the other is left on the baking sheet.

I was so surprised at how much flavor these had with just salt, pepper and olive oil! Very easy. I didn’t add anything else. My grocery store only had the packaged washed & trim green beans which made it even easier.

I know it specifically says fresh or frozen green beans (so please note I’m not completely incompetent lol) however I can not eat fresh or frozen green beans as I had a lot of my colon removed on August 1, 2022. So I was wondering if there might be a way to tweak this, possibly the cooking time or something like that to be able to use canned green beans? Thank you for your time!!
Hi Melaney!! I’m not sure that you can roast canned green beans, they’re already cooked and are submerged in salted liquid, I think roasting them would turn them into mush 🙁
I would chop some garlic and warm it with the olive oil and then fish the garlic out of the olive oil before adding to the green beans. My family loves garlic green beans!
That sounds great Katrina! Another option would be to smash the whole garlic cloves and let them infuse the oil that way, then you don’t have to fish out the small bits of chopped garlic! You can even put the smashed cloves in the oven with the green beans!
The pic looks great. How did you get the OO so evenly coated on the beans? Did you season your OO? What is this I hear about a wine?
Hi Steve! I drizzle the olive oil over the green beans when they’re on the roasting pan and then I use my hands to toss to coat! I don’t season my olive oil. I see the wine comment that you mentioned and I have absolutely no idea what it’s referencing because I don’t use wine for this recipe! I’m puzzled about that one, and I’m thinking that maybe it was in reference to a different recipe!

Can these been frozen after roasting? I’ve got a glut of beans that I would love to prep ahead of time for an easy side dish to thaw and reheat.
I love freezing roasted green beans alongside other leftovers, I make mini meals out of it. So I would say yes. They don’t reheat exactly back to their original state but it’s very handy to have them on hand in the freezer and they’re still delicious!
Help with the green beans,please ! I grow beans in my garden but cannot get rid of the strings. Cut both ends trying hard to remove the strings.I even used a potato peeler.But when they are cooked,we still eat nothing but strings and then I end up throwing the beans out.
What am I do wrong ?
