Have you ever met a person who doesn’t love ranch? Does anyone out there like that exist? I’m not the kind of person who dips everything in ranch, but Hidden Valley® Original Ranch Salad Dressing and Seasoning Mix is definitely a staple in my house and is key in some of my best recipes (like this one for chicken stew or this cheese ball recipe). Hidden Valley Ranch dip also beats out onion dip any day of the week. I’ve conducted secret taste tests when we’ve had people over (because I’m a weirdo) and there is always onion dip left, never ranch. I used to buy those little one-ounce packets until I discovered the 16 oz. size at Sam’s Club. That’s the way to go.

I love our little outings to Sam’s Club. It takes us about 45 minutes to get there, but we make a family day of it. I think that makes it even more fun than if it were closer. We have lunch and stock up on all of my favorite things. We all have those random staple kitchen items that we can’t live without. Aside from my ranch thing (you’re going to make fun of me for this), my other thing is actually plastic wrap.

My family literally used to go to Canada every year to visit family and bring back huge boxes of plastic wrap to last us the entire year until we went back to Canada again. (I told you that you were going to make fun of me.) We were convinced that you could only get that ultra airtight seal with the Canadian stuff. (Okay I am laughing at myself at this point. But this is a true story.) Well at some point I discovered Glad® Press ‘n Seal® and am happy to report that I no longer have to cross the border for my plastic wrap. Which is nice because I go through a lot of it. It works as lids when I put things in the freezer, and it even works for stacking containers in the fridge. Glad Press ‘n Seal, I’m telling you. It’s strong.

So let’s talk turkey burgers. Turkey is a leaner meat so there are a few tricks to make sure your burgers don’t fall apart on you.

How to keep turkey burgers from falling apart

-Breadcrumbs and an egg in the turkey meat work as binders to hold the meat together.

-Don’t overwork the meat, just mix it long enough for the ingredients to combine.

-Keep the turkey meat cold.

-Flash freeze the patties for 10-15 minutes before putting them on the grill.

Time to get that grilling going!

These mouth-watering turkey burgers are loaded with crispy, crumbled bacon that’s molded right into the burger patty before being sprinkled with classic ranch seasoning.

Ingredients
  • 6 slices bacon
  • 1 lb. ground turkey
  • Salt/pepper to taste
  • ¾ cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1/3 cup Hidden Valley Ranch Seasoning Mix
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese
  • 4 hamburger buns
Instructions
  1. Cook the bacon on low heat, using tongs to flip them occasionally when the sides begin to curl. Once cooked and crisp, place them on a plate lined with paper towels and let them cool. Once cooled, use your hands to crumble them into pieces.
  2. Combine the turkey, salt/pepper, breadcrumbs, egg, and crumbled bacon in a large bowl. Mix until just combined, don’t over mix.
  3. Shape the patties into 4 burgers of equal size.
  4. Rub the top and bottom of each burger with Hidden Valley Ranch Seasoning.
  5. Place the patties on a plate and flash freeze them for 10-15 minutes. This helps ensure they don’t fall apart on the grill.
  6. Preheat the grill while the patties are in the freezer. Preheat one section of the grill to medium-high and another section to low.
  7. Add the patties to the high heat zone and close the lid. Don’t touch them at all until you’re ready to flip, about 4-5 minutes.
  8. Flip the burgers and cook for another 3 minutes or so. Add the cheese to the top of the burgers, then move them to the low heat zone for another 3 minutes with the lid closed.
  9. Place them on burger buns, serve with lettuce and tomatoes if desired, and enjoy!
Recipe Notes

Make sure to clean or use a new spatula after you’ve placed the raw turkey meat on the grill.
