This post is dedicated to my mannnnnn Toby! I love spoiling this little guy, he’s always up for snuggling, playing, and eating. We are pretty much soulmates because we have all of those things in common 😉 Dinner time is his absolutely favorite time, especially since I started giving him Rachael Ray™ Nutrish® DISH Beef & Brown Rice- holy moly does he go crazy for that stuff. Rachael Ray knows her stuff so I guess it should come as no surprise. (Did you know that I was actually on the RR show!? This is something my husband much prefers I keep to myself…)
If you’d like to give the food for your little canine friend, take this $4.00 coupon! It’s good through the end of the year and you can print two to use!
Well anyway, enough about my days of stardom, back to Toby boy! So I originally switched over to this food (gradually, over the course of 7 days), because real U.S. farm raised chicken or beef is the first ingredient. It uses whole ingredients, and is safely USA cooked with the best ingredients. Essentially, it’s a totally guilt-free way for me to feed my four legged friend. And when dinner is done?………We Cuddle!
Ways to make the most out of your night with your furry friend…
As much as I’d love to let Toby snack all night, I know that the feeding frenzy has to end once dinner is done, at least for a little while anyway! (I mean look at that little guy, there’s only so much he can eat, despite what he might think!)… but I like to keep the fun going with Toby after dinner is done with activities other than food. Here are some ways that we make the most of our time together…
- Monkey in the Middle– YUP, that’s right. Toby boy needs his exercise. We don’t always have the time to take him on long, luxurious walks, so my husband likes to take one side of either the hallway (if it’s nasty outside) or our yard, while I take the other! We throw a frisbee back and forth and Toby runs like CRAZY to try to catch it. Once in a while he gets lucky and we “drop” it, and it’s his turn to run around with it! It’s a great way for him to burn off some energy with minimal effort!
- Belly Rubs, belly rubs, BELLY RUBS- I don’t know how this little guy does it but he lets you know when you accidentally stop rubbing his belly during nighttime TV time. He has us trained so well now that we find ourselves mindlessly rubbing that belly nonstop without even realizing it! Bravo Toby, bravo….
- Party in the kitchen-Like most dogs, Toby loves to wait for something to drop on the floor while I’m cooking. Now I know I said that I like to quit the food after dinner, but there are actually quite a few healthy snacks that dogs are allowed to eat. Toby’s favorites? Bananas and Carrots. Anytime I’m cooking with either of these things, he smells it and instantly and knows that he can give me that puppy dog look and I’ll “accidentally drop” a little bite for him. Then he’ll grab it, and trot over to his own little doggie couch to enjoy!
