Sesame Chicken Wraps

Sesame Chicken Wraps

Trust me when I say that you can make SUPURB sesame chicken wraps in about 30 minutes flat. I used some seasoning mix to help. I tried making sesame chicken from scratch once and it failed (I’ll try again, don’t get me wrong… and I’ll get it RIGHT!)… but when you’re looking for an easy weekday meal, sometimes you need a liiiiittle assistance! I have to say, this was VERY VERY flavorful. I used Sun Bird Honey Sesame seasoning. MM MM MM! Then I added my own flair – some sliced almonds (you can use cashews too), a little bit of coleslaw lettuce, and some Chow Mein noodles. Whewww it was SOO GOOD, and had a nice crunch to it thanks to the add-ons. They’re very good served warm or cold, and I used fajita wraps instead of larger burrito ones. It’s fun to have themed food nights during the week, (Mexican night is a another favorite, wahoooo!) –What themed nights do you like to have!?

Serves: 4 servings

Ingredients
  • 1 (8oz.) packet Sun Bird Honey Sesame Chicken (or similar variation) According to this specific packet, the following ingredients are also required:
  • 1.5 lbs. chicken breasts, cut in chunks
  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • ¼ cup corn starch
  • 3 tablespoons oil
  • ½ cup white or brown sugar
  • ½ cup sliced almonds (or cashews)
  • My add-ons:
  • 1 cup coleslaw lettuce
  • ¾ cup Chow Mein noodles
  • 1 package fajita tortillas
Instructions
  1. Prepare the sesame chicken according to package instructions, which included the following for me:
  2. Combine soy sauce, cornstarch, and 2 tablespoons water and blend well.
  3. Add chicken and marinade for 5 minutes
  4. Heat 2 tablespoons oil in large skillet or wok; remove chicken from marinade with slotted spoon (i.e. spoon with holes, to drain excess marinade) and stir-fry until golden and cooked through
  5. Blend seasoning, 2 tablespoon oil, and ½ tablespoon water. Add sugar and blend.
  6. Add chicken and cook, stirring constantly, until thickened.
  7. Add sliced almonds (or cashews) and finish dish as desired, which for me, included these remaining steps:
  8. Place a thin layer of coleslaw lettuce on each wrap. (you may warm the wraps ahead of time if you prefer, either in the microwave or oven on warm setting)
  9. Place about 2 spoonful’s of sesame mixture in the middle of each fajita and sprinkle with a tablespoon of Chow Mein Noodles.
  10. Fold into a wrap or simply roll into a cylinder. Slice in half, and serve! (Perhaps with some white rice!)
